State income tax withholding
Income tax withholding account (Maine Tax Portal)
Maine Revenue Services (MRS)
- You'll receive:
- A Maine withholding account number after you register on the Maine Tax Portal.
- Send Unify:
- Your Maine withholding account number.
This registration doesn't cover unemployment or paid leave. Those are separate registrations with the Maine Department of Labor.

Unemployment compensation account (ReEmployME)
Maine Department of Labor, Bureau of Unemployment Compensation
- You'll receive:
- A Maine UC employer account number and a 2026 new-employer rate of 2.54% combined (2.23% UC, 0.14% CSSF, and 0.17% UPAF) on the first $12,000 per employee.
- Send Unify:
- Your UC employer account number and your rate notice.
Paid leave and disability insurance
Maine Paid Leave contributions
Maine Department of Labor, Bureau of Paid Family and Medical Leave
- You'll receive:
- A Maine Paid Leave Contributions Portal account. Contributions are 1% of wages, and up to half can come from employees. Employers with fewer than 15 employees pay 0.5% and may deduct all of it.
- Send Unify:
- Your Maine Paid Leave portal account details.
Every employer with Maine employees must register. Contributions began in 2025, and benefits are payable for leave on or after May 1, 2026.
