State income tax withholding

Withholding account (Michigan Treasury Online)

You'll receive:
A withholding account registered through Michigan Treasury Online, typically filed under your federal EIN.
Send Unify:
Your withholding account ID (typically your federal EIN).

State unemployment insurance

Unemployment insurance account (MiUI)

Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA)

You'll receive:
A 7-digit UIA Employer Account Number (EAN) and a 2.7% new-employer rate for your first two years (5.0% for construction) on the first $9,000 per employee.
Send Unify:
Your EAN and your rate notice.

Create a MiLogin for Business account, then register in MiUI. Wait four days after registering before setting up MiWAM, where your EAN shows as 10 digits.

Local taxes24 Michigan cities levy an income tax that employers may need to withhold; Treasury handles Detroit's, and the other cities run their own registration. Ask us if you have employees there. Official lookup
